The City of Marquette’s Shoreline Cultural Trail is a living trail that has only just begun to dive into the deep waters of our community. This storytelling project uses public spaces, narrative, artwork, and history to connect us more deeply to the water, land, and one another. Each site is a place to pause, reflect, and share.
The initial storymarker signs (to be installed in June 2025) were developed with input from our local knowledge centers to collect the initial curiosity and connection points. Now we need your help to continue weaving the fabric of these places and people!
Stories can be personal, historical, or reflective. Submit writing, images, audio, or video – This is the first phase of a living trail—a storytelling project that weaves together public spaces, community voices, history, and art to deepen our connection to the water, land, and people of Marquette.
Each stop along the trail invites you to slow down, reflect, and explore what makes this place meaningful. Through shared stories and creative contributions, we hope to spark curiosity, appreciation, and a stronger sense of the community that calls Marquette home.
Your perspective matters. This is a space where all are welcome to share what’s important to them—about this place, its past, its future, and the community we shape together.

What do you notice about this place today? How does this place change with the seasons?
What do you want future generations to know about it? What do you hope this place looks like in 20 years?
What does this place mean to you or your community? Do you come here with others, who?

There is more than one way to write a story: You can also upload artwork, photos, audio recordings, or video clips.
