This exhibit, featuring textile and fiber artworks, examines the flood of information and imagery that bombards us in modern life, and how that impacts both individual and collective confidence in discerning what is real and what isn’t.
Woven tapestries explore the value and limitations of expertise through observation and practice while felted sculptures challenge the viewer’s sense of plausibility. What seems to make sense and therefore reflect reality is often an illusion that dissolves upon further scrutiny, yet we remain vulnerable to it. Through brightly colored patterns and fantastical imagery, the work invites introspection and dialogue about how humans decide a thing is known and legitimate, with compassion and humor for ourselves and others.
