80 Years of Fiber Arts in Marquette by the Yarnwinders Fiber Guild Variety of Fibers On display in the Huron
The Yarnwinders Fiber Guild celebrates its 80th anniversary with an exhibit honoring both current members and the founders and artists who built the guild. It coincides with Marquette hosting the Michigan League of Handweavers annual conference at NMU and is part of a citywide celebration of fiber arts throughout June.
The work reflects the diversity of both the guild and the fiber arts, spanning many techniques and traditions. Selections include pieces from the guild’s annual challenge projects, alongside newly created works, a guild history display, and historic pieces from members’ personal collections.
For eighty years, Yarnwinders has fostered learning, collaboration, and the preservation of fiber traditions in the community. This exhibition celebrates the creativity that emerges when artists share knowledge, support one another, and continue exploring the possibilities of fiber.
